For NFL fans, there is nothing quite like the thrill of watching your favorite team compete on the big stage. When that stage is set in an international location like London, the excitement reaches a whole new level. As a dedicated Buffalo Bills supporter, Amy will follow where team to the ends of the earth. The opportunity to travel across the Atlantic to see them face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL International Series was an experience we could not pass up.

Arriving in London is always a mix of excitement and cultural immersion. The city’s rich history, iconic landmarks, and vibrant energy provide the perfect setting for an unforgettable weekend of football and sightseeing. From the moment we landed, the city’s welcoming atmosphere was evident as fans from both teams filled the streets (well, mainly Bills fans. But I don’t want to, disparage Jaguar fans) proudly displaying their team colors. Our first stop was the heart of London to explore some must-see landmarks. A quick visit to Buckingham Palace, followed by a stroll along the River Thames to admire the London Eye and Tower Bridge, helped set the stage for the weekend. The city was buzzing with football energy, with fellow Bills fans gathering at pubs near Trafalgar Square, creating a home-away-from-home atmosphere filled with chants of “Go Bills.”

The anticipation of game day at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was electric. This state-of-the-art venue has become a prime location for the NFL’s expansion into international markets, and it did not disappoint. As we walked through the gates, the sight of Bills Mafia in full force was a reassuring reminder of how passionate and loyal Buffalo fans are, no matter where the team plays. Kickoff brought an eruption of cheers as both teams took the field. Jacksonville, having played games in London regularly as part of their global outreach, had a number of fans in attendance, but the Bills presence was undeniable. Every big play by Buffalo was met with deafening cheers, making it clear that the Bills Mafia travels well. The game itself was a hard-fought battle. With stars like Josh Allen leading Buffalo and Trevor Lawrence commanding the Jaguars, the action was intense from start to finish. Both defenses made key stops, and the offenses had their share of highlight-reel plays, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. The atmosphere inside the stadium felt like an authentic NFL Sunday experience, proving that London has truly embraced American football.  The Bills ended up losing the game, unfortunately.

Beyond the game itself, what stood out most was the camaraderie among fans. Whether celebrating touchdowns or discussing plays over a drink after the game, the NFL’s presence in London had brought together people from all over the world. Fans from the UK, Europe, and the United States all shared in the excitement, exchanging stories about their passion for the sport. Following the game, I made a stop at the popular NFL fan experience event, where fans could take part in interactive exhibits, meet former players, and immerse themselves further into the world of American football. This added an extra layer to the trip, showing just how impactful the NFL International Series has become.

Attending an NFL game in London was about more than just watching football. It was about being part of a growing international fan base, experiencing a different culture, and sharing unforgettable moments with fellow fans. As we boarded our flight home, we reflected on the incredible weekend filled with sightseeing, football, and a shared passion that connects people across continents. For any fan considering making the trip to London for an NFL game, it is an experience well worth it. Whether you are part of the Bills Mafia, a Jaguars supporter, or simply an NFL enthusiast, the fusion of American football and London’s historic charm creates a sporting adventure unlike any other.
